Younger Generation Must Identify Strength To Be Sucessful: Kasparov

2009/11/17

PUTRAJAYA: The younger generation, particularly the youths, ought to identify their strength in every aspect to ensure sustainability of success in their life, said world chess legend, Gary Kasparov, here today.

He strongly believed that the young ones were the right prospect to bring in changes that would benefit others, as well as contributing peace in the universe, he said.

"First of all is to identify everyone's strength and skills before conquering their weaknesses. This has to be carried out with proper planning..just like chess where every and each player used their personal strategy to defeat their opponents," he said in a speech at the Youth Engagement Summit 2009 (YES 2009) at the Putrrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) here, today.

Later at a press conference, the 46-year-old former world champion said, at present he was into writing and had already produced a book on chess. "Besides writing a book about chess, I am now into politics to make changes in my country (Russia), particularly on matters concerning human rights," said Kasparov, who retired from professional chess five years ago. -- BERNAMA
